Zambia

A Friendly and Safe Country

Zambia offers one of Africa’s most authentic and rewarding safari experiences. With vast national parks, abundant wildlife, and expert local guides, Zambia is a paradise for safari enthusiasts seeking a more remote and intimate connection with nature.

Whether you're tracking big cats on a game drive, walking through the bush with an experienced guide, or gliding silently along the Kafue River by boat — this is wild Africa, at its finest, and MAWIMBI Bush Camp is one of the most exclusive safari camps in Kafue National Park, in the heart of it all.

  • Location: Southern Africa, bordered by eight countries

  • Highlights: Victoria Falls, Zambezi River, South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi, Kafue National Park

  • Landscape: Rivers, floodplains, miombo woodlands, savannah, and remote wilderness

People & Culture

Zambians are known for their friendliness and warmth. They are fairly conservative, so being respectful is very much appreciated.

  • Population: Over 70 ethnic groups

  • Language: English is the official language and widely spoken

  • Culture: Rich in music, dance, storytelling, and traditions

Our MAWIMBI Bush Camp safari guides share folklore, bush wisdom, and personal stories that add such depth to your experience. All our warm and friendly staff would love to chat to you about their culture, traditions, food and beliefs.

Safety & Political Stability

Zambia is one of the most peaceful and politically stable countries in Africa.

It has a strong reputation for safety and hospitality, especially in safari regions.

Violent crime is rare, and the local people are warm, respectful, and welcoming to visitors.

As with all travel, general precautions in cities are advised, but safari destinations are very low-risk.

At MAWIMBI Bush Camp you are safe and secure with an armed scout in camp and in your tented suite, we have a personal safe for your valuables. You're surrounded by nature, the best place to be!
