When to Come

PEAK /DRY SEASON (May to October)

  • At this time of year, wildlife is drawn to water sources, game viewing is excellent in Kafue National Park

  • MAWIMBI has the Kafue River on the one side of the camp and a wetland on the other, so we are blessed with abundant wildlife coming to drink water.

  • October is the hottest month - please bring a hat and sunscreen.

OFF PEAK / GREEN SEASON (November to June)

  • The rains traditionally begin in November, and the bush  comes alive almost overnight.

  • Termites take flight just after the rains, and scented flowers attract the butterflies.

  • Lush green scenery, grass is high, fewer crowds.

  • It's a wonderful time for game viewing with pregnant animals giving birth and migratory birds en route, bringing excellent photographic opportunities.
